    DO YOU HANDLE ADVERSITY?

    By: Author Unknown

A certain daughter complained to her father about her life and how things have been so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and she wanted to give up. She
was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed that just as one problem was solved another arose.

Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen, filled three pots with water and placed the fire on high. Soon the three pots came to a boil.

In one he placed carrots, in the other he placed eggs, and in the last he placed ground coffee beans. He let them sit and boil, without saying a word. The daughter sucked her teeth and impatiently wondered what
he was trying to do. She had problems, and he was making
this strange concoction. In half an hour he walked over to the oven and turned down the fire. He pulled the carrots out and placed them in the bowl. He pulled the eggs out and
placed them in the bowl. Then he ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her he asked. "Darling what do you see,"

Smartly, she replied. "Carrots, eggs, and coffee."

He brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her
to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her
to sip the coffee. Her face frowned from the strength of the coffee.

Humbly, she asked. "What does it mean Father?"

He explained. "Each of them faced the same adversity, 212 degrees of boiling water. However each reacted
    differently."

"The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. But after going through boiling water, it softened and became weak."

"The egg was fragile. A thin outer shell protected a liquid center. But after sitting through the boiling water, its
    inside became hardened."

"The coffee beans are unique however. After they were in the boiling water, it became stronger and richer." "Which
are you," he asked his daughter.

When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond?

Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?

Are you the carrot that seems hard, but with the smallest amount of pain, adversity, heat you wilt and become soft with no strength?

Are you the egg, which starts off with a malleable heart, a fluid spirit? But after a death, a breakup, a divorce, a
layoff you became hardened and stiff. Your shell looks the same, but you are so bitter and tough with a stiff spirit
    and heart, internally.

Or are you like the coffee bean? The bean does not get its peak flavor and robust until it reaches 212 degrees
Fahrenheit. When the water gets the hottest, it just tastes better. When things are there worst, you get better. When people talk the most, your praises increase. When the hour
is the darkest, trials are their greatest, your worship elevates to another level.

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a
    coffee bean?

    YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD
    -John Holland-

Many of us know people who when they've reached a certain age, find themselves stuck in the mind-set that they’ll remain single for the rest of their lives. All too often you’ll hear them say: “I’m too old,” or “It’s too late, I’m not going to meet anyone now.” The same goes for people who feel that a promotion has passed them by, or it’s too late in life to start something new. Too many people fall victim to this self-limiting belief or subscribe to this form of societal programming. The quote by George Eliot is awesome: “It's never too late to be what you might have been.”

As much as our soul tries to guide us to our highest good, we as humans have a tendency to shrug it off and not pursue what we are being guided to do. We often find excuses, or put up internal barriers that prevent us, as this is the easier option!

Louise Hay, the founder of my publisher Hay House, didn’t start her empire until she was in her late forties. It all started with a small pamphlet, and now her company is the biggest self-help publisher in the world! She will be turning 85 this year, and is still out lecturing. When she’s at an event, she stands there signing books for every person in line. I always recommend to people the importance of having a role model, and to follow how they accomplished their goals.

I've read many stories like a lady, who at the age of 70 went back to college to get a degree in English. Was it too late for her? She clearly didn’t think so. I just watched a television show featuring a lively 82-year old man happily windsurfing on the ocean alongside all the twenty something surfer dudes. Apparently, he didn’t believe he was too old for anything!

There was a wonderful piece on the news about a very young hearted 100-year old man. His life dream was to parachute out of a plane, and the footage showed him strapped to an instructor and falling gracefully toward the earth with the biggest smile on his face. What I loved most was his comment that he wanted to do it again on his next birthday!

So when you make excuses, you block positive people and situations from manifesting themselves in your life. These people and situations could bring you unlimited amounts of spirit energy, passion, and joy to your soul. The soul is ageless. It’s eternal. That’s why so many people say: “I really don’t feel that old.”

In reality, it’s your physical body (the vessel that houses your soul) that ages – not your soul. By tapping in to your soul and the power of the spirit that flows through it, you’ll feel youthful as it

    YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD (Cont'd)

brings you energy and vitality to your physical body when you need it. It all comes down to how you approach life and how you’re taking care of yourself. It’s about the mind-set you have of either saying “I can” or “I can’t.” If you really believe that you’re too old, then you
the spirit that flows through it, you’ll feel youthful as it brings you energy and vitality to your physical body when you need it. It all comes down to how you approach life and how you’re taking care of yourself. It’s about the mind-set you have of either saying “I can” or “I can’t.” If you really believe that you’re too old, then you know what happens, you’re just going to get older. I’ve known many people who don’t give in to the whole notion of what you can or can’t do at a certain age. A very good friend of mine has a very young minded 91-year-old mother, who is still looking for a boyfriend, and volunteers once a week at a homeless shelter. I’ve seen people in their thirties act older than her mom. I hope that I remain young at heart as I get on in years!

    SPEAK KINDLY TO
    YOURSELF

To gain a bit of perspective, imagine saying the following to a teenager who was attempting to fulfill an important goal:
    • You don't have what it takes.
    • You'll never get it right.
    • Lower your expectations.
    • You're not good enough.
    • It's already been done.  Don't bother.
    • You should have accomplished this goal by now.

How often do you say these kinds of things to yourself?  Every now and then? Every other day?  Every day?  Every few minutes?  Come on!  You're so much more than that .

As you continue to live your life and to invest in your personal growth, please remember the following:

    • Be patient with yourself. If it takes you longer to get where you want to go, there might be a reason for it. If you could rise above your life and view it from a higher perspective you'd see exactly why things happen as they do. Allow for Divine timing. It works .

    • Ask for help and guidance. I still catch myself trying to go it alone during the most challenging of times. Slowly but surely I am learning that isolation not only slows down my progress, it makes me feel incredibly alone. You don't need to suffer in silence. Give someone an opportunity to help you. They'll get to experience the joy and pleasure that comes from being a generous spirit.

    • Embrace your disappointment and begin again. You will always face disappointment when you allow yourself to want more from life. And you can live through it.  As you face disappointment and come out the other side, you'll develop self-trust - a deep inner knowing that you can handle anything that comes your way.

    • Speak kindly to yourself. Think of yourself as the teenager in the example above. When you're feeling discouraged the last thing you need is a critical parent beating you up. Instead, give yourself a gentle, loving reminder that your goals aren't nearly as important as your relationship to yourself.

    EMPATHY AND DETACHMENT

Being overly empathetic can lead to becoming too involved with, and therefore emotionally dragged down by, other people's problems.  Being too detached, on the other hand, might make you distant and unfeeling. Getting just the right balance of the two is the perfect recipe for compassion in action.

    WINDOW ON WORRY

There's an important difference between concern and worry.  Concern is purposeful and rational:  a due certain undesirable outcomes.  For example, we might shut all the windows before leaving the house, to prevent us from being burgled.  Worry, however, takes the logicality of concern.  It tends to focus on pointless wishing that things were otherwise, or obsessing bout what might happen in a hypothetical future.  Banish worry:  it can't help you solve a single one of your problems.

    CAT'S EYES

We're all inescapably confined to the body and mind we inhabit, and it's pointless to wish it were otherwise. However, imagining how things would appear from another perspective give us fresh insights that can help to break down the walls of habitual thinking.  Spend five minutes imagining that you're a cat.  Curl up in a ball among a pile of cushions on the floor.  With eyes closed, breathe deeply.  Listen attentively to every sound.  What would you be thinking if this transformation wer for real?  What would you be anticipating?  What would you be afraid of?  Try this exercise with other creatures too - for example, a spider, a goldfish, or a sparrow.

    Dr. Wayne Dyer's Corner

Attracting prosperity is just like attracting anything else in your life:  It involves not being attached to it, and not giving it power over your life in any way.

What you tink about expands.  If your thought are centered on what you're not getting in your life, then what you're not getting, by definition, will have to expand.

There are two ways to look at virtually anthing.  One is the violent way, and one is the peaceful way.  It's the yin and yange of the universe.

A sense of purpose isn't something that you find; it's something that you are.  Truth isn't something that you look for; it's something that you live.

    BOWEN TECHNIQUE - KATHY LAW

Bowtech, the original Bowen Technique, is gentle form of body work in which very subtle moves performed over the muscles and connective tissue send messages deep into the body, retrieving memory of a preferred, relaxed, balanced way of wellbeing.  Results can be remarkable, even from the first session; often only a few sessions are needed to correct the presenting problem.  There are frequent but very essential pauses throughout the session that allow the body time to respond and begin the healing process.

The Bowen Technique does not use forceful manipulation.  The technique addresses not on the musculo-skeletal framework, but also the facia, nerves and internal organs.  The body's integrated response improves circulation and lymphatic drainage and aids in the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins.

The original Bowen Technique is extremely gentle and is considered appropriate for anyone from pregnant women to newborn babies, the frail and elderly.  It can assist recovery from many conditions, from traumatic injury to chronic illness, depending upon each individual's capacity to heal.  No adverse side effects have been reported.

The technique should be considered for:  back pain, sciatica, digestive and bowel problems including IBS, ear ache, ear infections, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, knee, ankle, foot problems, menstrual and hormonal irregularities, sports and accident injuries, neck/shoulder problems (incl. frozen shoulder), groin pain, pelvic tilt, uneven leg length, respiratory problems and hay fever, RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow, etc. etc.

    What's New???
*With the great success of my weekly channelled meditations and Healing Circle, I have decided to combine the two for a spectacular evening of expansion, awareness and awakening. Each month I will bring forth the wisdom of my guides Salvatore in a live channel; they will take you through an inner universal journey of the heart center designed to awaken your highest potential, clear blockages of limiting thoughts, allow you to be the master of your emotions, expand your consciousness and allow you to step into your own self mastery by unlocking the door to your divine knowledge and all that you are! Everyone will experience something quite unique and different as each vocal sound is pre-designed for each of you.
