Oprah's Love Letters
to Her Fans
Called a love letter to her fans…Oprah leaves us with highlighting these wonderful lessons. All of these are from the final Oprah Winfrey Show…and I’ve taken these notes…her direct words…to have a reference and to be reminded of what I can be…and of the teacher who gave me the lessons.  Thank you Oprah.

Oprah Lessons
  • You are not alone.
Finding your Calling…your Passion…
  • We all are called. Everybody has a calling and your real job in life is to figure out what that is and get about the business of doing it.
  • We saw the joy and the juice for (these people) doing what they are meant to be doing…Because that is what a calling is. It lights you up and it lets you know that you are exactly where you are suppose to be and doing exactly what you are suppose to be doing. and that is what I want for all of you.
  • Live from the heart of yourself.
  • What sparks the light in you so that you in your own way can illuminate the world?

CHANGE WITHOUT
THINKING

These can be trying times and it can be easy to get so caught up in the day-to-day that we forget about working on those aspects of change that are truly important to us. Most of us believe it is the amount of our resolve - the pure determination - that dictates whether or not we will accomplish our goals. It is all a matter of will power and if our will power is strong enough, then we will succeed. The truth of the matter is, we unknowingly sabotage our own attempts to keep our goals because very few of us know the tools and techniques necessary to succeed!

Click below to view Eldon Taylor speaking  about the chicken and the eagle on youtube.  It's very enlightening!!!

Recognize & Intensify Your Brillance
Amanda Gore

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't help the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you; It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone and as we let our light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same". Marianne Williamson spoke these magnificent words.

To me they were awe inspiring and present a philosophy for being our best and for bringing out the best in everyone around us.
This idea is the antithesis of the Aussie tall poppy syndrome in which we pull people down rather than build them up.

Imagine if we applied his ideas to our children;  perhaps they would be filled with a sense of hope and optimism and confidence; they would grow into balanced and secure individuals who would in turn make wonderful parents.

What do you do to recognise and intensify your brilliance?

I see thousands of people every year who are embarrassed to admit, let alone show their talents, and who are mortified if someone else recognises their greatness in any area. This is not a smart way to live.

Recognition (as opposed to ‘constructive criticism’) is the number one force that motivates people to be the best they can be.  How do you recognise others and make them feel special?

I remember a story about Mary Kay Ash who created one of the most successful cosmetic companies in America. One of the most crucial concepts she taught her sales team was to imagine every person they met had a banner on their foreheads declaring Make Me Feel Special.

If you recognise and appreciate your gifts, talent and endless potential, it frees you up to see the same things in others.

How many of us live our lives in the terror that someone will realise how inadequate we really are!

We have all sorts of defence mechanisms that kick in to prove we are better, more competent, more capable etc than we believe we are. I was blessed with a mother who installed a belief in me that I could do anything I wanted to or be anything I wanted to be.  I knew it would take work but I knew I could do it.  What a gift.

Why not make this ‘wonderfulness theory’ (a name I just invented for Ms Williamson’s ideas) a regular general discussion in your home, at your work, with your sales or management team, with your family, with your friends?   Each person tells the others what brilliance and talent they see in the others present.  They outline aspects that are gorgeous and fabulous.

The only rules in this game is that everyone must be sincere and accept others comments graciously - without an internal voice that shouts ‘BS’ every time another compliments you; and that there is to be no sniggering or destructive muttered asides!  Play this game once a month to reinforce the beliefs.  Repetition of sincere recognition is an extremely potent growth force.

And no – you will not be creating arrogant monsters! Arrogance is usually a cover up for massive insecurity anyway.  However, you may be shining a light in the  dimness of someone else’s soul and letting them see their own talents.

But first you, as Marianne Williamson points out, need to see your own wonderfulness!

If you have never thought about this before, do so now. Ignore destructive comments others have inadvertently or cruelly dumped on you and after reading Ms Williamson's quote several times spend ten minutes every day identifying your brilliance.

Remember, by doing this you’ll be giving others permission to do the same thing and you will be showing them the way.

APPLAUSE PLEASE

Cheryl Richardson says there are things you can do to create the same support and inspired feelings similar to receiving a standing ovation.  Start with these three ideas:
  • Choose Your Audience Wisely. Surround yourself with people who see you and appreciate who you really are.  Make it a practice to keep the company of those who only want the very best for you.  Stop wasting your time trying to convince those who don't "get" you or understand your choices in life. You need cheerleaders, not projects .
  • Become a Champion for Yourself. Speak kindly and positively to yourself all the time. Look in a mirror regularly and applaud your successes.  (I keep a makeup mirror on my desk for this purpose thanks to Louise Hay). Literally pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Get in the habit of being your own best supporter when things don't go the way you planned.  Tell yourself, "It's okay, it's okay, we're learning and growing every day!"
  • Get the Message. Here's something fun you can do right now.  Send loving daily messages to yourself using some kind of reminder software.  Say things like: You're awesome! I think you're terrific! You rock!  Or, I always have your back!  I use an app called "TellMeLater" that allows me to send an email to my computer and a text to my iphone with these fun, supportive messages.  While it might seem like a silly idea, trust me, you'll smile anyway .

Human beings grow with love and support, not criticism or neglect.  Be your own best cheerleader and watch your life soar!

5 WAYS TO BE HAPPIER AT WORK

Monday
Focus on "Get to" instead of "Have to" - While driving to work focus on what you “get to” do instead of what you “have to” do. With gratitude realize that you don’t have to do anything. You get to go to a job while so many are unemployed. Gratitude floods your body and brain with emotions that uplift you and energize you rather than stress hormones that drain you.

Tuesday
Don’t Expect your Boss, Co-workers and Customers to Make you Happy - Realize that happiness is an inside job. Our happiness has less to do with forces outside of us and more to do with what’s inside of us. The way we think about work, feel about work and approach our work influences our happiness at work. For instance, just by making yourself smile you produce more serotonin in the brain-which makes you feel happier. You’ll also be happier when you focus on what you are giving instead of what you are getting.

Wednesday
Don’t Seek Happiness - Ironically if you want to be happier don’t seek happiness. Instead share your strengths and decide to work with passion and purpose and happiness will find you. The research shows that people are most energized when they are using their strengths for a bigger purpose beyond themselves. Whatever your job, decide to bring passion to it and find purpose in it. I’ve met bus drivers, mortgage brokers, janitors and fast-food employees who are more passionate about their jobs and happier than some professional athletes making millions of dollars. Every job will get mundane and “old” if you let it but purpose and passion keep it fresh and make you happier.

Thursday
Focus on Excellence instead of Success - When you focus on success you can easily fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others, looking over your shoulder, feeling envious, playing office politics, and competing against coworkers instead of collaborating. However, when you focus on excellence you measure yourself against your own growth and potential. You strive to be the best you can be. You simply focus on getting better every day and this makes work more meaningful and rewarding.

Friday
Celebrate Together - While we shouldn’t depend on others to make us happy, by building a positive team or support group at work we will be happier. So instead of expecting others to make you happy, you proactively create the positive relationships that enhance your engagement, productivity and happiness. One great way to do this to huddle with your team/group at the end of the week and have each person share their accomplishments, victories, and great moments of the week. This will produce great feelings on Friday that inspire you and your team to come back to work and make a difference on Monday.

The Big "F" word
FORGIVENESS
John Holland

For many, especially when the hurt is deep, it’s impossible to imagine forgiving someone who has caused you such pain. But when you make the conscious decision to start the forgiveness process – you’re actually marking the beginning of the healing process.
When we forgive, we’re able to get back to loving ourselves and stop feeling like a victim. This doesn’t mean that you’re releasing the person from the responsibility of their past actions, but instead, it means that you’re releasing the anguish that your soul is carrying around with it. Whether they deserve to be forgiven or not, just remember that you’re doing it primarily for yourself.
I know all too well that it can be hard to take the first step, but perhaps sending a card or agreeing to meet for coffee can be a baby step toward opening the lines of communication. If your gesture of forgiveness is ignored or met with hostility, then give yourself permission to let go of the pain and the associated negativity. Life is too short, and it would be sad if one day you said, “Maybe I should have, could have or would have,” or even more poignant, “If only I had …”

WORLD

I'm sure you have heard Louie Armstrong's song "What a Wonderful World".  I found this site whereby they put  pictures together with his song to view.  I really enjoyed just being wth what was created and felt awesome after viewing it.  I hope you do to!!!!

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom, for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
I see skies of blue, and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces, of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, sayin’, “How do you do?”
They’re really sayin’, “I love you”
I hear babies cryin’, I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more, than I’ll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Oh yeah

There are no limits to material growth, but there are no limits to inner enlightenment.

BOWEN TECHNIQUE - KATHY LAW

Bowtech, the original Bowen Technique, is gentle form of body work in which very
subtle moves performed over the muscles and connective tissue send messages
deep into the body, retrieving memory of a preferred, relaxed, balanced way of
wellbeing.  Results can be remarkable, even from the first session; often only a
few sessions are needed to correct the presenting problem.  There are frequent
but very essential pauses throughout the session that allow the body time to
respond and begin the healing process.

The Bowen Technique does not use forceful manipulation.  The technique addresses
not on the musculo-skeletal framework, but also the facia, nerves and internal
organs.  The body's integrated response improves circulation and lymphatic
drainage and aids in the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins.

The original Bowen Technique is extremely gentle and is considered appropriate
for anyone from pregnant women to newborn babies, the frail and elderly.
It can assist recovery from many conditions, from traumatic injury to chronic
illness, depending upon each individual's capacity to heal.  No adverse side
effects have been reported.

The technique should be considered for:  back pain, sciatica, digestive and bowel
problems including IBS, ear ache, ear infections, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic
fatigue syndrome, knee, ankle, foot problems, menstrual and hormonal irregularities,
sports and accident injuries, neck/shoulder problems (incl. frozen shoulder),
groin pain, pelvic tilt, uneven leg length, respiratory problems and hay fever,
RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow, etc. etc.
