Right Brain Switch (Big Toe) Technique

Genie Z. Laborde
(NLP Mindfest)

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is the most elegant way to switch on the capabilities of the Right Brain. Why is it important to tap into the Right Brain? Because the Right Brain has all the "goodies"—peace, joy, creativity, bliss, self-healing, and much more.

The Left Brain is full of fear and anxiety. There is no fear in the Right Brain. When you make the switch to the Right Brain, anxiety disappears. The more often the Right Brain is activated, the less fear there will be each time you switch back to the Left Brain.
You must be aware you are anxious before you can do anything about it. The Right Brain Switch (Big Toe) technique brings your attention into the present moment. It increases awareness of what is going on inside your body right now. Here’s how it’s done:
  • Imagine a time when you were feeling anxious and fearful. Really feel the experience—feel how your body was tense, neck stiff, and shoulders hunched.
  • Next, switch your attention to your big toe and sense what is going on there. Then switch your attention to your other big toe. Then move to your heel, the other heel, soul of foot, other foot, the ankle, other ankle, and so on throughout your body, including your calves, knees, thighs, torso, stomach, chest, arms, and fingers. Then turn your attention to your neck and then your head. Check out your whole body.
  • Take deep breaths as you do this process.
  • As you become aware of your entire body, feel all the fear drain out.
  • In the beginning, take up to 90 seconds to do this process. With practice, you can enter this present moment state in a few seconds.

Your BFG

Jon Gordon

I’ve never done this before but as we approach the New Year I’m coming up with a BFG.

A Big Fun Goal.

And I want to encourage you to do the same!

A BFG could be anything you want to experience or accomplish in 2012.

It should be a BIG goal because it’s important to dream and think big.

And it should also be FUN in that you have fun going after it and enjoy the process of trying to make it happen.

I have found that we too often get so serious about our goals that we don’t have fun pursuing them.

But this year can be different.

Whether your BFG is to get a promotion, climb Mount Everest, write a book, visit Europe, move to America, learn to play the guitar, start a new business, win a championship, go on a mission trip to Haiti, start a charity, win a big account, learn to paint with water colors, or something else, you can have FUN while you make your BIG goal come alive!

So over the next few weeks think about the possibilities for your BFG.

A Happy New Year

Cheryl Richardson

As we head into the last two weeks of the year, I wanted to offer you a few self-care reminders designed to support you in entering 2012 feeling excited about this next, great phase of your life.

During the holidays, be sure to...

Take good care of your financial health.  Spend well within your means.  Remember that the time and love you give others is the most valuable (and desired) gift of all.

Take good care of your body.  Don't be tempted to throw caution to the wind when it comes to eating and drinking.  Better to make conscious choices about what you put into your body.  Feed your whole being - body, mind, and spirit - rather than just your taste buds.

Take good care of your heart.  One of my favorite things to do during this time of year is to enjoy spontaneous visits with friends I haven't seen in a while.  Schedule a last minute breakfast or afternoon glass of wine and catch up.

Take good care of your mind.  Release the pressure to get everything done by telling yourself, "I have all the time in the world."  Or, keep reminding yourself, "I make others happy by making myself happy first."  And feel free to use one of my favorite affirmations while shopping, "I can't think of anyone I'd rather be with than you!"

There you go - a few small acts of self-care that will make a big difference if you use them.  Here's the key to success:  It's all about the practice .

Take Action Challenge Choose at least one act of self-care from above, print it out, and keep it with you this week.  Refer to it often and be sure to follow through!

It's All Perfect, And So Are You

Jennifer Hoffman

We may not feel like everything in our life is perfect but we definitely know what's imperfect. We feel stuck, life isn't flowing, we don't have any money, our love life is nonexistent-that's what we call imperfect. But in the Universe there is no concept of imperfection and everything in our life is 'perfect' because we created it, we are perfect so everything we create must also be perfect. When we start judging what we create as good or bad, perfect or imperfect, we are in polarity and we invite opposing energies to create greater examples of perfect and imperfect for us.

Our definition of 'perfect' is something that is well, perfect. We use the world to describe our optimum life experience, when we're in the flow, happy, everything in our life makes us happy, we're stable and secure and we feel in control. The issue with perfection is that we have made it mean some ideal state but it really means something that ideally expresses a particular state. And in this way everything in our life is perfect because it is all a mirror of what we have created with our thoughts, beliefs and actions.

The flow of our life can never be at a higher energy or achieve a different outcome than what we intend and allow. So if we want joy, flow, abundance, love and success, we have to set an intention for those things, create and maintain the levels of vibration that will support and sustain them and see ourselves as moving from one level of perfection to another. What we have created is perfect and what we are creating in the next step is also perfect. When we can see our lives in perfection at all times and in all situations, we acknowledge our power, take responsibility for our reality and stay out of victimhood and fear, both of which prevent us from being aligned with a higher vibration.

How can we think that being unhappy, broke, unloved and feeling out of control are anywhere close to perfect? By acknowledging ourselves as creator of our reality. And who can make them different? We can immediately shift the energy in these situations by acknowledging our creation with the statement "I made that" and our power to shift the energy with the statement "I can now make something different". When we do this with everything in our life, we keep the energy moving which is a better use of our creative power than to wallow in self pity, moan and groan about how bad our life is and forget who created it and who has the power to change it.

It's All Perfect, And So Are You
(cont'd)

This week's energy work. Make a list of everything you think is imperfect in your life. Don't be judgmental or critical, just write down everything you think is wrong with your life and how it is or isn't working. Then, when you have written it all down, next to each one write down how you can change it, starting each sentence with "It is perfect that I now am/have _________ and I now move it into a new state of perfection by ______." For example, if you wrote that you love life is imperfect, write down "The love life I now have is perfect and I can change it by being willing to give and receive love now." Do this exercise thoughtfully and take your time because as you claim perfection in your life, you also acknowledge your power to create something different.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Do you remember a time in your life when a certain person came into your life, and changed your whole world or belief system? For all you know, they might have touched your life in a way that sent you in whole new direction on your spiritual path. Also, when people touch each other’s lives, they may never realize how the impact of that one interaction affects many other lives.

How can you touch another’s life in a positive way and why would you want to? Because I believe that’s what being a spiritual being in human form is all about. It’s about embracing life and living as a soul. It’s about learning, growing, loving, sharing, and constantly evolving with the time we have here.

Helping another creates a ripple effect that will touch more people than you’ll ever know. I helped an elderly woman the other day at the supermarket and she looked at me as if she was in shock that someone actually took the time to help her. She told me that she’d had such an emotional day, that my helping her gave her the boost that she needed. Maybe she passed on that positive attitude when she got home and someone else benefited. A simple act from an unexpected person, a stranger, and even children who are truly our best teachers can touch our lives in positive ways. Such acts nourish us with courage, hope, inspiration, strength, and often times direction. By touching lives – you’re touching miracles.Sometimes, I know how hard it is to help someone else when you feel you cannot even help yourself. Doing so really does soothe your soul. Try it. As we are all unique, you’ll have a way to touch someone’s life in a way that may be totally different to someone else. Touching another life in a positive way is a personal thing, and it doesn’t have to be something big – even a smile can move a mountain.

Sometimes it just comes to you or it
could be as simple as a spontaneous kind gesture.

All I’m asking is to be conscious of helping another. You may be saying: “But, I’m just one person, what can I do?” You can’t change the world, but you can start by changing yourself. What ever is going on in the inside will be reflected on the outside. Everything in the world is based on the inner consciousness of man.

Always remember, that one person (that means you) can make all the difference. You are a soul, so believe and know that you do have power and you do matter in this collective universe.

ALL THAT I GIVE IS GIVEN TO MYSELF

Gerald Jampolsky, M.D.
(Love is letting go of Fear)

To give is to receive is the law of Love.  Under the law, when we give our Love away to others we gain, and what we give we simultaneously receive.  The law of love s based on abundance; we are completely filled with Love all the time, and our supply is always full with Love all the time, and our supply is always full and running over. When we give our Love unconditionally to others with no expectations of return, the Love within us extends, expands and joins.  So by giving our Love away we increase the Love within us and everyone gains.

The law of the world, on the other hand, states that what we give away we lose.  That is to say, when we give something away, we don't have it anymore and suffer loss.

The world's law is based on the belief in scarcity.  It holds that we are never really satisfied.  We continue to feel empty as we vainly attempt to get fulfilled by seeking for Love and peace in whatever forms we have come to think of as desirable.

The problem, of course, is that nothing in our external world will continuously and totally satisfy us.  Under the world's law, we continuously search but never find.  We frequently think our inner well is empty and that we are in need.  We then try to fulfill our imaged needs through other people.

A powerful lesson from Mother Teresa was that you don't have to seek for guidance outside of yourself to find out what to do.  Learn that the time for giving is always now - not later - and that by giving with no expections or limits, one has immediate inner peace.  Learn in that one instant that all you give is given to yourself.

Today I will give to others only the gifts I want to accept for myself.

TRANSFORMATION

Ainslie MacLeod
(from the book The Transformation)

If your soul has one purpose, it’s this: to evolve. It wants to know what being a human is all about. So it comes to the Physical Plane repeatedly, each time attaching itself to a physical body for the duration of a lifetime to explore new lessons every time.

The soul has specific missions it uses to help give its lifetime a focus. A soul with a mission of healing, for example, will want to learn about being of service, helping other souls to complete their life plans, and of course, healing. We all have a combination of missions. They’re narrow enough to give a life certain themes, yet broad enough to avoid limiting free will.

Beyond its specific missions for each lifetime, your soul is seeking something much bigger. Its grand purpose, if you like, is to unite with your Physical Plane self, through its ten transformational goals. Sometimes described by my spirit guides as “paths,” or “core values,” these goals are the key to personal transformation and are the ultimate lessons your soul is here to learn.

As the Transformation builds, and an increasing number of us connects with our goals, it will become easier for others to follow. (A rising tide lifts all boats, as the saying goes.)

Connecting with the ten transformational goals is how, in this lifetime, rather than somewhere in the distant future, you can elevate your consciousness.

The Ten Transformational Goals
  • Equality
  • Cooperation
  • Respect
  • Justice
  • Knowledge
  • Understanding
  • Truth
  • Freedom
  • Peace
  • Love
Each transformational goal comes with its own payoff. When you embody your soul’s goal of Equality, you’ll recognize your true worth as a valuable member of the tribe, no better or worse than any other. This awareness will help to break down the Illusion and connect you more strongly than ever to your soul.

BOWEN TECHNIQUE - KATHY LAW
Bowtech, the original Bowen Technique, is gentle form of body work in which very
subtle moves performed over the muscles and connective tissue send messages
deep into the body, retrieving memory of a preferred, relaxed, balanced way of
wellbeing.  Results can be remarkable, even from the first session; often only a
few sessions are needed to correct the presenting problem.  There are frequent
but very essential pauses throughout the session that allow the body time to
respond and begin the healing process.
The Bowen Technique does not use forceful manipulation.  The technique addresses
not on the musculo-skeletal framework, but also the facia, nerves and internal
organs.  The body's integrated response improves circulation and lymphatic
drainage and aids in the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins.
The original Bowen Technique is extremely gentle and is considered appropriate
for anyone from pregnant women to newborn babies, the frail and elderly.
It can assist recovery from many conditions, from traumatic injury to chronic
illness, depending upon each individual's capacity to heal.  No adverse side
effects have been reported.
The technique should be considered for:  back pain, sciatica, digestive and bowel
problems including IBS, ear ache, ear infections, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic
fatigue syndrome, knee, ankle, foot problems, menstrual and hormonal irregularities,
sports and accident injuries, neck/shoulder problems (incl. frozen shoulder),
groin pain, pelvic tilt, uneven leg length, respiratory problems and hay fever,
RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow, etc. etc.
