    ADVISE FRIENDS HONESTLY

    Advise friends honestly, even if you know you're going to have to say something unwelcome.  If your friend has asked for your advice, the stress of knowing you were disingenuous will be greater than the stress of speaking your mind.

    Of course, if your advise isn't asked for, you have the option of saying nothing.  But if this prospect troubles your conscience, again it's probably better in the long run to say what you really feel.



    VOTE FOR YOURSELF


    Vote for yourself every morning, as if you are the leader for the part of Everlasting Happiness, and everyday is election day!  Imagine what you would promise in your victory speech.  Polish your speech a little more each day.  See yourself walking your talk.



    DEVELOP A PERSONAL SUCCESS CHART


    Draw up a chart showing the months of the year across the top and the different  areas of your life down the side - relationships, work, creativity, personal development, health.  At the end of each month, reflect on the successes that yo have had in each area.  This could be anything from completing a project at work to attending a regular dance class.  For each achievement place a gold star in the relevant column to reward you for your efforts.



    RISING HIGH




    Think of your consciousness as a hot air balloon, lifted by the warmth of your good intentions, but weighed down by past hurts and bitterness.  As you fly, visualize a still image of an event that caused you pain, then imagine wrapping it up in brown paper, and throwing it out of the balloon.  Watch the past shrink as you rise higher above the ground.



    APPRECIATE LAST YEAR'S GIFTS







    Although New Year's resolutions are useful for setting the course for the following year, they can imply flaws and failings in the past.  For a truly positive start to the new year it's important to find value in the one that's just neded.  Reflect on the experiences that you found most challenging and thin of three positive outcomes for each one that you can carry forward into the next year - perhaps lessons you  have learned, wonderful people you have met, inner strengths you have discovered.



    RE-THINK

    Do a major time-management audit at least every six month.  Consider which routine activities are intruding into your quality of life, and whether you could shed any of them. How is your life-work balance treating you?  Where are the stresses in your week, and how could they be eased?  This is the time, too, to think about whether major changes might be desirable - for example, moving to a new house, or planning different kind of vacation.  Make sure that you come out of your audit with at least three concrete decisions for change, however modest.


    TASK FORCE

    Beware of performing routine tasks on autopilot.  Unless you fully engage, your mind is like to wander pointlessly, your efficiency and productivity will suffer, and above all, your quality of life is compromised when you're not fully attentive.  To stay  in the moment, try the following:  vary the time of day at which you do repetitive jobs, or shuffle the order of different stages, or look for ways to do things entirely differently - with different tools or techniques.  An element of change and experiment can enliven the most tiresome chore.



    EASE A HEADACHE

    Ease a headache or migraine by applying gentle pressure with the forefingers to the acupressure points that lie around the eyes.  There are seven of these:  one between the two eyebrows in the middle of the brow; two in the middle of the eyebrows; two below these, halfway along the lower ridges of the eye sockets; two in the slight  indentations at the outer edges of the eye-sockets, next to the temples.  For each point in turn, hold the pressure for 3 seconds and then gently release.



    QUESTION THE WORD "SHOULD"




    Used about yourself, this word reflects pressures that you are allowing to influence your behavior.  Take a moment to become aware of these pressures; do you wish to give them governance over what you do?  Used of others, the word "should" can denote a subtle attempt control.  Find a replacement before the word reaches you lips. 

    Banish "have to".  The phrase "I have to" implies a surrender of will to an outside force.   Empower yourself by taking responsibility for your actions.  Replace the words "I have to" with " I choose to".  You always have a choice, however difficult it may be.  Notice how this subtle shift in attitude affects your perception of what you are choosing to do.

    BOWEN TECHNIQUE
     
    Bowtech, the original Bowen Technique, is gentle form of body work in which very subtle moves performed over the muscles and connective tissue send messages deep into the body, retrieving memory of a preferred, relaxed, balanced way of wellbeing.  Results can be remarkable, even from the first session; often only a few sessions are needed to correct the presenting problem.  There are frequent but very essential pauses throughout the session that allow the body time to respond and begin the healing process.
     
    The Bowen Technique does not use forceful manipulation.  The technique addresses not on the musculo-skeletal framework, but also the facia, nerves and internal organs.  The body's integrated response improves circulation and lymphatic drainage and aids in the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins.
     
    The original Bowen Technique is extremely gentle and is considered appropriate for anyone from pregnant women to newborn babies, the frail and elderly.  It can assist recovery from many conditions, from traumatic injury to chronic illness, depending upon each individual's capacity to heal.  No adverse side effects have been reported.
     
    The technique should be considered for:  back pain, sciatica, digestive and bowel problems including IBS, ear ache, ear infections, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, knee, ankle, foot problems, menstrual and hormonal irregularities, sports and accident injuries, neck/shoulder problems (incl. frozen shoulder), groin pain, pelvic tilt, uneven leg length, respiratory problems and hay fever, RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow, etc. etc.
