                                                                                                 PEEL AN APPLE IN A SINGLE STRIP
     
     
     
    Perform the task slowly, trying to keep the strip thin and of even width.  Giving your full concentration to this task will sharpen your senses and clear your mind, enhancing your enjoyment of the apple when you eat it.
     
     
    CLEAR OUT YOUR CLUTTER
     
    Sorting out your wardrobes, drawers and cupboards and throwing out all that accumulated rubbish will allow the things you need and treasure to breathe.  Above all, you'll know that there's order even in hidden places - a good analogy for the  that shines within the spirit.
     
    DOUBLE-SIDED
     
    Fear of change, or of deepening truth, or simply a fearful attitude to life, can all hinder us on the journey to enlightenment.  The opposite of total fear is total faith - like a coin that's finished spinning, one side is always uppermost in our practice.  It's natural to feel a sense of trepidation, but whenever you feel fearful, let go and have faith in your chosen path.
     
     
    ILLUSIONS
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
    It's sometimes tempting to believe that if we think about a problem for long enough, we'll resolve it --whereas all that happens in fact is that our anxieties deepen and become more disabling.  Don't fall into the trap of endlessly rehearsing the same old issues without making progress at all in your decision making.  Let things lie for a while:  you deserve a break!
     
     
    GUESSWORK
     
    Often we hear a mere snatch of a conversation, or see a fragment of a scene, and then instantly come to a conclusion.  It's surprising how little evidence we need for our imaginations to work away.  Beware of this tendency, for sometimes we'll merely be giving imaginative life to our fears.  The truth could be otherwise.
     
     
    CROSS YOUR WIRING
     
     
    Most people know that the left hemisphere of the brain controls the right side of the body, and visa versa.  When infants crawl, they are ingraining this pattern that allows us to read, learn, and move with vigor.When you're dragging, scrambled, or even fearful, some tasks that reinforce this crossover pattern may help you.  As you walk, swing your hand across your body toward the opposite leg.  Or as you sit, briskly lift your knees one at a time and touch them to the opposite hand.  Try crossing your arms and placing them around your shoulders ( a good upper-back stretch as a bonus).  Play piano, or do pat-a-cake with a child.  Using both hands together, make sideways figure eights.   Or sway your hips in a figure eight.Anything that speeds up the cross flow of information between your body and brain will speed your energy up as well.
     
     
    REMEMBER THE SERENITY PRAYER
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
    The Serenity Prayer is:  "God, grant me the courage to change the things I can , the serenity to accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference."  This prayer addresses the lifelong dilemma of disentangling control from influence.  When we confuse the two we waste lots of energy on things we cannot change.
     
    REMEMBER THE SERENITY PRAYER(Cont'd)
     
    For instance, we have influence over whether we get a promotion or keep our job in a downsizing, but control only over how we ourselves perform our jobs.  When we try to control things we can really only at best influence, we pour our energy down a bottomless hole.  We obsess about what we might have said or done to make things different.  Instead, by focusing on doing the best job you can and letting go of the outcome you can't control, you'll have more energy to do what really can make a difference.
     
     
     
    THINKING AND DOING
     
    Decision making, for many, is a fraught process.   Between the decision and its execution  is a slot in time through which the voices of anxiety and regret often make themselves heard. Instead, let action flow naturally from your resolve, without a break. Or if there's a waiting period before you can actually embark on what you've chosen to do, use it to affirm your trust in yourself.  Keep those mischievous, undermining energies at bay:  they have not right of admission.
     
    HA HA!!!
     
    Laughter can be a bond between people enjoying each others' company or a flash enlightening clouds of gloom.  It can puncture pretensions we detect in our own attitudes or behaviour, and be useful in undermining stale, habitual thought patterns.  Use humour as a brush to sweep away the cobwebs of the heart.
     
     
    MATCH YOUR VALUES AND GOALS.....
     
     
     
    Match your values and goals in order to feel fulfilled in what you do.  If there's a gap between the two, you will experience either tension or apathy.  High values plus empty goals equals no motivation to reach your targets.  Low values plus ambitious goals equals not real satisfaction in your achievements. Ask yourself which are more positive:  your values or your goals?  Make any necessary adjustments to either in order to bring the two factors into line with each other, thereby correcting any inner disharmony.
     
     
    REAWAKEN YOUR CHOICES
     
     
     
    We tend to forget that we have choices at many levels.  We can choose the direction of our lives, the thoughts and reactions that we have, even the feelings we create.  Cultivating awareness of how we are creating our current experiences - of what we're doing and why we're doing it - gives us the freedom to create different experiences by making alternative choices.

    BOWEN TECHNIQUE - KATHY LAW
     
    Bowtech, the original Bowen Technique, is gentle form of body work in which very subtle moves performed over the muscles and connective tissue send messages deep into the body, retrieving memory of a preferred, relaxed, balanced way of wellbeing.  Results can be remarkable, even from the first session; often only a few sessions are needed to correct the presenting problem.  There are frequent but very essential pauses throughout the session that allow the body time to respond and begin the healing process.
     
    The Bowen Technique does not use forceful manipulation.  The technique addresses not on the musculo-skeletal framework, but also the facia, nerves and internal organs.  The body's integrated response improves circulation and lymphatic drainage and aids in the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins.
     
    The original Bowen Technique is extremely gentle and is considered appropriate for anyone from pregnant women to newborn babies, the frail and elderly.  It can assist recovery from many conditions, from traumatic injury to chronic illness, depending upon each individual's capacity to heal.  No adverse side effects have been reported.
     
    The technique should be considered for:  back pain, sciatica, digestive and bowel problems including IBS, ear ache, ear infections, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, knee, ankle, foot problems, menstrual and hormonal irregularities, sports and accident injuries, neck/shoulder problems (incl. frozen shoulder), groin pain, pelvic tilt, uneven leg length, respiratory problems and hay fever, RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow, etc. etc.
